JESUS THE GOOD SHEPHERD

JESUS IS THE GOOD SHEPHERD

CHRISTIANITY

1“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber. 2But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.

3To him the gatekeeper opens.

The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.

5A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.”

6This figure of speech Jesus used with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them.

JOHN 10:1-6

COMMENTARY

Jesus here, declares himself the Messenger of GOD to men, and compares his ministry with all those who have come before Him or come after Him, posing as the Messiah, as false (John 10:8; Matthew 24 :5).

The Lord Jesus, when speaking that the others do not enter through the main door, refers to the fact that no False Prophet does so through the channels destined by GOD.

No false divine envoy comes through the Scriptures, the Prophets, and the supernatural signs of GOD, but, regardless of them, that is, without a scriptural basis, but perhaps distorted interpretations; without prophetic precedence; and without having any miracle accompanying their message, they do it, but rather in an unusual way and incompatible with GOD's way.

Although this message was given by JESUS speaking of the false messiahs, before and after Him; this is also the case of all those who have claimed to be messengers of GOD, trying to take the place of JESUS on earth.

But our Lord explains that He did enter through the main door, through the front door of ISRAEL, that is, fulfilling in Himself all the prophecies given about the Messiah, and supported by signs and miracles that by themselves spoke of divine approval of his ministry and message.

And at the end he gives us one last revelation. That 'his sheep', that is, all those open to the TRUTH, when they find him and hear his message, recognize him as the MESSIAH or Messenger of GOD (John 18:37).

Our JESUS ends up teaching that all the sheep that 'know his voice' follow him, while they flee in terror from everyone who falsely professes in the Name of GOD. With this he lets us know that the conscience of every human being who honestly seeks the Truth, has the capacity to be able to recognize the Truth when he is in front of it, whatever it may be (Romans 2: 14-15).
