WHY WAS THE MARRIAGE OF HEROD ANTIPAS TO HERODIAS CONDEMNED BY JOHN THE BAPTIST?

WHY WAS HEROD ANTIPAS’s MARRIAGE TO HERODIAS CONDEMNED BY JOHN THE BAPTIST?

Because HERODIAS was the divorced wife of HEROD ANTIPAS’s half-brother, HEROD PHILLIP II, Tetrarch of BATANEAS, TRACHONITIS and GUALANITIS, at the nor-east end of Lake Galilee, including all the east coast of the lake.

In Torahic Law, a Jewish man could not marry his sister-in-law, ever, unless she was a widow, and the deceased brother had left no descendants to her.

(Leviticus 18:16; 20:21).
